Outreach Community Ministries Appoints Nate Kaunley Chief Executive Officer

Following an extensive nationwide search led by CarterBaldwin Executive Search, the Outreach Community Ministries (OCM) Board of Trustees has selected Nate Kaunley as the ministry’s next Chief Executive Officer.

Nate joins OCM from Children’s HopeChest in Colorado, where he served as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. While in between holding various leadership roles at Children’s HopeChest, Nate completed a short stint as Planned Giving and Major Gifts Officer for St. Joseph’s College in Maine and served as the Assistant Director of the Victim Center in Missouri.

A Springfield, Missouri native, Nate graduated from Evangel University with a BS in Sociology and a minor in Social Work. During his time at Evangel, Nate completed a missions-based internship in Nairobi, Kenya. After graduation, Nate and a friend returned to Nairobi to start a nonprofit ministry, Dusty Feet, to combat child human trafficking while also providing school-based curriculums to the local community. After seven years in Africa and with a young family of his own, Nate returned to the States and left the organization in the capable hands of local leaders.

Nate is currently completing an MBA at Cornell University with an emphasis on business analytics and corporate social responsibilities.

Founded in 1973 as Wheaton Youth Outreach, Outreach Community Ministries is a Christian organization that provides services to assist troubled families in the Wheaton, IL area including individual and family counseling and casework, emergency assistance funds, crisis intervention for teens, and transitional housing for young adult women and single mothers. OCM has grown to a staff of more than 85 employees, 25 annual interns, and 600 active volunteers. Today, the Christ-centered organization remains dedicated to its mission to restore hope and provide opportunities for people to become all that God intends them to be.
