Project Description

CarterBaldwin Executive Search is pleased to partner with Ensworth School in their appointment of Dr. Heather Caponi as their new associate head of school. She will begin this new role on July 1, 2023.

“After a thorough search and interview process and out of a pool of incredibly strong candidates, Heather quickly rose to the top, and it became increasingly clear that her experience, professionalism, and love for Ensworth make her the perfect fit for this position,” said Head of School Dr. Prentice Stabler.

In her three years as Head of Lower School at Ensworth, Caponi has demonstrated a commitment to continuous assessment and improvement to provide the best experience for students and faculty. She implemented a new literacy curriculum in Grades K-3 to improve students’ reading skills and constructed a student academic support program to foster academic growth for all students. She also created an onboarding program for new Lower School faculty to ensure alignment across grade levels and designed a Grade Level Coordinator leadership structure allowing teachers to serve on decision-making committees to represent the needs of their collaborative teams.

Prior to Ensworth, Caponi was the Primary and Lower School Head at Brookfield Academy, a PK-12th grade coeducational day school in Milwaukee, WI. In her twenty-four years as an educator, she gained extensive classroom experience, teaching pre-Kindergarten, first, third, and fourth grades. As a school leader, Caponi served as a professional development coordinator, an assistant lower school head, and a primary and lower school head.

Caponi earned her EdD in leadership and innovation from Arizona State University, an MEd from the University of San Diego and a BA in American studies from Colby College.
