Ida Kaastra-Mutoigo Named President of Restore NYC

CarterBaldwin Executive Search announces the appointment of Ida Kaastra-Mutoigo as President of Restore NYC, a nonprofit organization serving survivors of trafficking in the United States.

Ida brings 35 years of experience in international development and nonprofit leadership to Restore NYC, having served as Canada’s Executive Director for World Renew (formerly Christian Reformed World Relief Committee) for the past 15 years. In this role, she was responsible for managing all external relationships with support members, major donors, constituents, governments, and collaborating organizations in Canada. Together with her US counterpart, Ida oversaw all of World Renew’s international relief and development programs in approximately 30 countries serving 3,600 communities and more than 1.5 million people.

Feeling a call to service as a young child, Ida interned with World Renew after college graduation and then joined full-time. She served for 15 years in various positions, leading teams in East and Southern Africa, coordinating the startup volunteer program, ServiceLink, and directing national and expatriate staff as Uganda’s Field Director and Program Consultant, before being promoted to Executive Director.

In addition to her relief work in the field, Ida was a lecturer at Uganda Christian University and a part-time professor at Redeemer University. She also serves as a board member on the ACT Alliance and Integral Alliance.

As President of Restore NYC, Ida will design the next chapter for the rapidly expanding organization by setting the vision and overall strategy and building innovative programmatic, funding, and talent strategies to achieve these new ambitions.

Born to Norwegian immigrants in Canada and raised on an 80-acre dairy farm, Ida earned her BA in Agriculture and Biology from Dordt College in Iowa, a BS in Crop Science from the University of Guelphand, and a Masters in Management for Nonprofit from McGill University. She also is a Certified Association Executive with the Canadian Society of Association Executives and earned her Certificate in Volunteer Management from Mohawk College in Hamilton, ON.
