CarterBaldwin Executive Search, together with The Westminster Academy Board of Directors, is pleased to share the announcement that Dr. Preston Atwood has been appointed their next Head of School, beginning July 1, 2024.
“Dr. Atwood is a strategic thinker, relational leader, accomplished scholar, and eloquent communicator. A deeply committed and faithful follower of Jesus Christ, Preston holds a mature faith and seeks opportunities to use his gifts for God’s Kingdom,” said Bryn Wilson, Westminster Academy Board Chair. “We are profoundly grateful to CarterBaldwin, our executive search firm, and specifically Chris Hornsby, who provided expert guidance through each step of this thorough process.”
Atwood has a passion for Classical Christian Education and has an impressive track record of executive leadership. He will join Westminster from Regents Academy in Nacogdoches, TX. Prior to Regents, Atwood served as Headmaster for Grace Classical Christian Academy in Granbury, TX. He also served as a consultant to classical Christian education start-ups.
Atwood obtained his PhD in classical and ancient near Eastern studies and MA in Hebrew Bible and Semitic studies from the University of Wisconsin. He also holds an MDiv and ThM from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a BA in humanities from Scarborough College. He has participated in a Head of School cohort hosted by the Society of Classical Learning, building relationships, receiving mentorship, and gleaning wisdom from leaders in Classical Christian Education from across the country.
